I'm Jamal, a certified strength coach who lives right here on the peninsula. I come to you: 45 minutes, one on one, $75 a session. You pay as you go. There are no packages and no contracts.
If you're on Ozempic, Wegovy, or Zepbound, that's my specialty: losing the fat without losing your muscle.
Mid-session, all we need is a little space.
The medication takes care of your appetite. It doesn't decide what kind of weight comes off. Without strength training and enough protein, studies show a third or more of what you lose can be muscle, and muscle is the part that keeps you strong, keeps your metabolism up, and is slow to build back.
I'm not a doctor. Anything about the medication itself stays between you and your prescriber. I handle the training.
Tell me where you are on the peninsula and what you're after. Early mornings, evenings, and weekends all work.
The first session is mostly me watching how you move. Then I build your plan around your goals and whatever space you have at home.
Most people see me once or twice a week. Every set gets logged in an app, so we both see the progress.
All you need is a pair of dumbbells and enough floor space to lie down. If you don't own anything, text me before our first session and I'll send you a short shopping list. It runs about $50, one time, and it's yours forever. I bring bands and a mat.
Mostly adults between 30 and 55, here in the Rockaways, who want to lose weight and get stronger without joining a gym. That includes:
Who I'm not for: if you want a bodybuilding prep coach, or you already love your gym, I'm not your guy. This is for people who need the training to come to them.
I'm Jamal Khan. I live right here in the Rockaways, and I've been lifting for 25 years. I've gone through my powerlifting phase, my bodybuilding phase, and a running phase. These days my own training looks like what most of my clients are after: staying strong and healthy while the rest of life gets busier.
I'm a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, and CPR/AED certified. I also built Liftaroo, a workout tracking app on the App Store. It's what we log your sessions in, so you can watch your numbers go up instead of taking my word for it.
I don't do fads, and I won't shame you into anything. We do the basics, done right, in the time you actually have.
Anywhere on the peninsula, plus Broad Channel:
Just off the peninsula, in Howard Beach or thereabouts? Text me anyway. If the drive works, I'll make it work.
The boardwalk at dusk. Home turf.
No. Most of my clients start exactly there, and there's nobody else around: no mirrors, no audience. The first session is mostly me watching how you move so I can build your plan. We start where you are.
Yes, in two ways that matter. The appetite suppression makes it easy to under-eat protein without noticing, and fast weight loss without lifting takes muscle down with the fat. So we strength train once or twice a week and keep your protein honest. The goal is to arrive at your target weight strong, not just smaller. Anything about the medication itself is between you and your doctor.
A pair of dumbbells and enough floor space to lie down. That covers months of progress. If you don't own anything, I'll text you a shopping list before we start, about $50 total. You buy once and keep it. I bring bands and a mat.
Packages lock you in before you know whether this is working. I'd rather you book the second session because the first one was worth it. You pay as we go (cash, Venmo, or Zelle) and you can stop anytime.
Once or twice a week for most people. I'll also set you up with simple workouts to do on your own between sessions, logged in the app so I can see them and adjust your plan.
Yes. There's no waiting for machines and no commute on your end. We warm up, do the work, and you're done before you would have found parking at a gym.
Usually, yes. If you and a spouse or a friend want to share a session, text me and we'll figure it out.
Text me your name and your cross street, and I'll take it from there.
